Man Shot and Killed by Officers During Stand-Off

At approximately 8:15 PM on August 7, 2025, Bellevue police responded to the 15800 block of Northrup Way after receiving reports of a man in crisis firing an airsoft rifle in the area.

The incident prompted a large police response, including the deployment of a SWAT team and a Bearcat armored vehicle. Nearby residents were ordered to shelter in place, and some were evacuated from their homes for safety.

After several hours of negotiations, an officer-involved shooting occurred at about 12:31 AM on August 8. Authorities confirmed that the suspect, identified by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office as 60-year-old Patrick Sathyanathan, was struck and killed.

No officers or community members were injured during the standoff. The circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.
