Man Rescued From Garbage Truck In Houston
At approximately 3:49 a.m. on May 29, 2026, Houston Fire Department crews responded to the rear of a business on Westheimer Road after reports of a man trapped inside a garbage truck.
According to fire officials, the driver of a garbage truck was emptying a recycling dumpster when she heard a man screaming that he had injured his legs.
The driver immediately stopped operations and called for emergency assistance.
Firefighters arrived and used an aerial ladder and a Stokes basket to safely extricate the man from inside the garbage truck before lowering him to the ground.
The victim remained conscious and alert throughout the rescue and was able to assist firefighters while being transferred to a stretcher.
He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Officials said the dumpster reportedly contained cardboard and no valuables, and it remains unclear whether the man had been searching through the dumpster or was using it as shelter.
