Man Killed During Apparent Armed Robbery at Houston Park

A 42-year-old male was found deceased inside Riverside Park from a gunshot wound to the torso.

The male victim had met a female friend at the park. He was initially parked in a truck and later joined her in her car, which was parked nearby.

Two masked male suspects approached the vehicle, one armed with a pistol and the other with a rifle, and ordered both individuals out of the car.

The victim and the female began walking away from the vehicle. The suspects entered the car but were unable to drive off because the female had taken the keys.

The suspects then chased the pair through the park. They caught up to the male and began struggling with him in a grassy area, where he was later found deceased.

The female escaped and ran toward a nearby convenience store, where she called 911.

She reported hearing a gunshot as she approached the store.

Officers arrived shortly after and located the male victim deceased inside the park.

The suspects fled the scene. Police do not believe they used a vehicle to get away.

The motive was possibly an attempted armed robbery involving the female’s car.
