Man Killed After Exiting Disabled Truck On 91 Freeway In Corona

A man was killed Thursday night after exiting his disabled pickup truck and entering traffic on the 91 Freeway in Corona, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported around 10:28 p.m. on September 18, 2026, on the eastbound 91 Freeway east of Interstate 15.

According to CHP, a Dodge Ram 1500 became disabled in the No. 2 lane of the FasTrak lanes. The adult male driver exited the pickup and ran into the No. 1 lane of the mainline freeway, where he was struck by a Honda HR-V.

A Honda Civic subsequently struck the man as he was in the roadway. The driver of the Dodge was pronounced dead.

CHP said all parties involved remained at the scene. Investigators did not suspect either of the other drivers of being under the influence.

The pedestrian’s sobriety remained undetermined pending the coroner’s investigation. CHP said no prosecution was anticipated based on the preliminary investigation.

The fatal collision remained under investigation by the California Highway Patrol’s Riverside Area.
