Man “Just Chillin” on Tree Gets Rescued | San Diego

06.08.2022 | 10:46 AM | SAN DIEGO – Officers found a male in the top of a tree above the northbound I-5/ Hawthorne st exit, and along the Elm St on-ramp to the I-5.

He was at the top and approx 15 ft up.

When asked what he was doing, he stated “Just Chillin”.

Officers found out he had just walked away from a “Crisis Center”.

They started to negotiate with the male, as firefighters arrived.

The on-ramp was closed as was the Hawthorne st off-ramp (major lane of travel to the airport).

A fire truck ladder was raised and a female officer went up to speak with the male.

The male finally agreed to come down after approx 2 hours.

The male never threatened to jump from the tree.

Firefighters were able to safely remove the male from the tree.

The male will be transported to a local hospital to help treat him.
