Man in Custody After Reporting Hostage Situation | Houston

07.27.2021 | 10:00 PM | HOUSTON – Northeast responded to a shooting in progress at 9500 Everglade Dr.

Officers arrived and located a running vehicle in the driveway of the location. Officers announced themselves and heard the suspect yell he had three hostages.

Swat & HNT arrived at the scene and established a perimeter. Units could hear screaming throughout the night.

Officers made several attempts to get the suspect to surrender and failed. SWAT kicked the front door in and eventually took the man into custody.

A rifle was located however it is unclear if it was used in the incident.

The DA has been advised and charges are pending against the suspect. The suspect was taken to an area hospital by HFD.
