Man In Custody After I-17 Pursuit

LOCATION: I-17 & McDowell Road

DETAILS:
- A DPS road Captain attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a black Honda Accord on southbound I-17 near Thomas Road.
- The vehicle refused to yield and a pursuit was initiated.
- The suspect quickly exited the 17 at McDowell Road.
- The suspect continued south over McDowell on the access road before turning right onto 24th Avenue.
- Seconds later the suspect lost control of his vehicle.
- The suspect bailed from the vehicle on foot and jumped a chain-link onto the SB I-17 to WB I-10 transition ramp.
- The suspect then jumped off the transition ramp and began running south in the landscape under the I-17 / I-10 stack.
- Troopers with assistance from the Phoenix Police Air Unit, located the suspect as he approached the southbound black canyon access road under the stack.
- Troopers converged on the suspect and took him into custody without further incident.
- A firearm was located inside the suspects vehicle.
