Man Goes Crazy & Crashes His Car Into Building

DETAILS:

1. On March 10th at about 12:30 AM, good samaritans viewed a possible suspect from a hit and run, followed the vehicle, and attempted to stop and remove the keys from the suspect.
2. The suspect refused and took off at a high rate of speed.
3. The suspect lost control of the vehicle as they approached 2nd St and Mount Vernon Ave and collided with multiple light poles, eventually crashing into a roll-up door of a tire shop at 196 N Mt Vernon Ave.
4. The vehicle started catching fire, and a structure fire was dispatched.
5. Police officers were already in the area for an unrelated call and detained the driver but later released.
6. Firefighters arrived at the scene and contained the fire only to the vehicle, preventing significant damage to the tire business.
