Man Goes Crazy & Crashes His Car Into Building

- On March 10th at about 12:30 AM, good samaritans viewed a possible suspect from a hit and run, followed the vehicle, and attempted to stop and remove the keys from the suspect.
- The suspect refused and took off at a high rate of speed.
- The suspect lost control of the vehicle as they approached 2nd St and Mount Vernon Ave and collided with multiple light poles, eventually crashing into a roll-up door of a tire shop at 196 N Mt Vernon Ave.
- The vehicle started catching fire, and a structure fire was dispatched.
- Police officers were already in the area for an unrelated call and detained the driver but later released.
- Firefighters arrived at the scene and contained the fire only to the vehicle, preventing significant damage to the tire business.
