Man Found Dead In Houston Roadway Under Suspicious Circumstances

A man was found dead in the middle of a Houston roadway late Sunday night, prompting an investigation into whether he was struck by a vehicle or suffered a medical emergency.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched around 10:42 p.m. on September 27, 2026, to the 1700 block of Greenhouse Road following reports of a possible vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision.

According to preliminary information, a woman driving through the area noticed the man in the roadway and stopped to check on him. She called 911 after finding him with no signs of life. Another driver also stopped at the scene. Neither reported striking the man.

Emergency medical personnel were already at the location when the first deputy arrived.
Investigators learned that earlier calls from the surrounding area had described a man acting erratically. The description matched the individual found in the roadway.

The man had reportedly been seen in a nearby apartment complex parking lot and running around buildings before he was discovered. Authorities had not determined whether he lived at the complex or what may have caused his reported behavior.

Investigators are working to determine whether the man was struck by a vehicle or experienced a medical emergency while in the roadway and was subsequently run over. If a vehicle was involved, the driver did not remain at the scene.

The man’s identity and approximate age were not immediately available.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
