Man Causes Car Accident to Save Dog’s Life | San Diego

1.05.2021 | 10:04 AM | SAN DIEGO – A man purposely ran a red light to save a dog from being run over and crushed to death Tuesday morning.

The Good Samaritan “Rob Smith” was sitting in the left turn lane waiting his turn to go from northbound Saturn Blvd to westbound Palm Ave. when he saw a Chihuahua in the street get hit by a passing car.

The driver kept going, leaving the dog in this very busy intersection.

The dog couldn’t move and appeared that it suffered a broken leg.

Seeing other cars were going to run over the dog, Smith ran the red light and put his car in between the injured dog and the oncoming traffic.

Smith’s car was hit by another male driver that was traveling westbound on Palm Ave.

Smith jumped out of his car and picked up the dog and put it in his vehicle.

The San Diego Humane Society was called to come and retrieve the dog, and the SDPD is doing their investigation of the accident.

There were no injuries to the two drivers involved.
