Man Arrested After Shooting At Cars

Per the AZ DPS Metro Central District Captain on the scene,

Troopers received multiple 911 stating a man in a black Chevy Tahoe, driving west on I-10 near 24th Street, was firing a handgun at vehicles traveling east on I10.

911 callers stated that the suspect was firing the handgun indiscriminately into passing eastbound traffic and did not appear to be targeting a specific vehicle.

One of the witnesses began following the suspect vehicle as he transitioned onto the I-17 and relayed his travel direction to responding troopers.

Several troopers and the Phoenix Police helicopter responded to locate the suspect.

The suspect was located traveling north on I-17 near Thomas Road.

Moments later, several troopers initiated a high-risk traffic stop.

The suspect exited at Indian School Road and stopped in a business parking lot.

Troopers, with guns drawn, issued commands to the suspect.

The adult male suspect complied and was taken into custody without incident.

Upon searching the vehicle, troopers located alcoholic beverages, a handgun with obvious signs of recent use, and multiple spent shell casings matching the involved handgun caliber.

At this time, there are no reports of any gunshot victims referencing this incident.

Troopers are working to determine if the suspect is impaired.
