Man Arrested After Pursuit Crash in Chula Vista
11.30.2020 | 12:15 PM | CHULA VISTA – An older man in a suit jacket is behind bars after a simple stop sign violation ended in a vehicle pursuit crash Monday afternoon.
An SDPD officer attempted to stop the driver of the Hyundai for a minor traffic violation in downtown San Diego.
Instead of stopping, the male driver fled towards the freeway.
The pursuit got onto the southbound I-5 and speeds reached over 100 mph.
The driver attempted to exit onto H St in Chula Vista and make a right-hand turn towards Bay Blvd.
He didn’t male the turn and collided with a traffic light pole.
He got out of the vehicle and laid down and surrendered.
He was transported to a local hospital, complaining that he could not breathe. He is reported to be a resident of Chula Vista.
The intersection west of the I-5 was closed to all traffic including the I-5 offramp.
