Man Arrested After Allegedly Shooting at Deputy With Pellet Gun | Canyon Country

05.10.2021 | 6:30 PM | CANYON COUNTRY (CNS) – A man was taken into custody Monday in Canyon Country after sheriff’s deputies said he shot at them with a pellet gun.

An off-duty Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy who was driving in the area of Soledad Canyon Road, between Camp Plenty Road and Langslide Avenue, saw the man carrying what appeared to be a rifle at about 6:30 p.m., according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The off-duty deputy flagged down a passing patrol vehicle and informed the deputy of the man, who CBS2 reported fled down an embankment into a homeless encampment.

As the two deputies spoke, they heard what sounded like BB’s striking the off-duty deputy’s personal vehicle, Koerner said.

Additional sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene and established a perimeter to locate the man. Soledad Canyon Road between Camp Plenty Road and Langslide Avenue in Canyon Country was closed during the search.

Deputies eventually located the man and took him into custody. His name was not released.

No weapon was retrieved from scene as of about 9 p.m., Koerner said.

The sheriff’s department announced at about 8:40 p.m. that Soledad Canyon Road was reopened.
