Man and Woman Killed by Melting Dry Ice in Wine Cellar

Houston Police Department Central Patrol officers and the Houston Fire Department responded to a call regarding two unresponsive adults in a basement wine cellar.

Upon entry, firefighters located an adult male and an adult female deceased in the wine cellar area of the residence.

Preliminary information indicates that dry ice had been stored in the confined space. As it melted, it released carbon dioxide, potentially displacing oxygen and creating a hazardous environment.

It is believed the victims went down to check on supplies and were overcome by the gas.
