Man Accidentally Shoots Himself At Anaheim Walmart

A man was hospitalized after a firearm reportedly discharged accidentally while he was moving luggage inside a vehicle at an Anaheim Walmart Monday morning.

Anaheim police and firefighters responded around 10:44 a.m. on September 14, 2026, to the Walmart at 440 N. Euclid Street following reports of a gunshot victim in the parking lot.

Officers arrived and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg and bleeding heavily. Police provided medical aid and applied a tourniquet before firefighters arrived.

According to Anaheim Police PIO Eric Anderson, the man and his family were visiting the area for a nearby convention and were preparing to head home when they stopped at Walmart for snacks. The man was reportedly moving luggage around inside the vehicle when the firearm accidentally discharged, striking him in the leg.

He was transported to UCI Medical Center. His condition was not immediately available.

No one else appeared to have been injured. Family members who remained at the scene were cooperating with investigators.

Anaheim police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discharge.
