Major Fire Destroys Three-Story Home Damages 2 Vehicles

UPDATE: The home has completely collapsed.

  1. A three-story home was destroyed in a fire early Saturday morning.
  2. The roof and part of the building collapsed down the hill.
  3. Helicopters were called in to drop water on the fire when the building collapsed in an area firefighters had trouble reaching.
  4. LAFD Arson investigators are at the scene but cannot comment until they finish their investigation.
  5. Neighbors can be seen on video hosing down the fire and one of their damaged vehicles.
  6. Two vehicles were damaged in the fire. One of the vehicles was parked next to the building and destroyed, and neighbors say it belongs to the people who own that home.
  7. Over 100 firefighters extinguished the fire in 1:40, and no injuries were reported. The overhaul operation will continue through the morning as access to all sides is limited. No further details.
  8. This extended-duration firefight continues as crews face difficulty reaching all areas of the fire due to the terrain (descending hillside home). LAFD Air Ops provided water drops on the surrounding vegetation as the ember cast was threatening extension. There are no other structures exposed. The home has a partial collapse, and a full collapse is anticipated. There are no injuries reported. This will remain an active incident well into the morning.
