Los Angeles: Underground Vault Door Shears Gas Tank During Crash

01.08.2019 | 9:00 PM | LOS ANGELES – Firefighters controlled a leaking gas tank after a car crashed into a opened underground vault door, Tuesday night.

Authorities responded to the reported crash in the 1000 block of South Olive Street around 9:00 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a Toyota Prius that had been involved in a traffic collision.

Further investigation revealed the vehicle struck an opened underground vault door causing the vehicle’s gas tank to rupture.

The driver was uninjured but firefighters worked for nearly 30 minutes to control the leaking gas.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
