Los Angeles: Teenage Boy Critically Injured After Being Struck, Dragged By Hit & Run Driver
08.06.2019 | 9:00 PM | LOS ANGELES – Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver that struck a 15-year-old boy riding his bicycle and dragged him nearly 1,500 feet before fleeing, Tuesday night.
Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a bicyclist near the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Woodlawn Avenue around 9:00 PM.
Units arriving on scene located a 15-year-old boy with serious injuries consistent with being struck and then dragged by a vehicle.
Firefighter paramedics treated the boy on scene before transporting him to an area hospital where he was in critical condition.
Initial reports indicate the boy was riding his bicycle near the intersection of Maple Avenue and 36th Street when he was struck and then dragged nearly 1,500 feet before being dislodged at the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Woodlawn Avenue.
The driver was stopped briefly by witnesses by later fled in what was described only as a green vehicle with tinted windows.
Officials have offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the hit-and-run driver.
