Los Angeles: Riots Break Out During Protest
05.30.2020 | 6:00 PM | LOS ANGELES – Protests turned into riots with officers being attacked and cars being lit ablaze along with rampant looting, Saturday evening.
Protests got unruly and turned into riots with officers being attacked and cars being set on fire in downtown near the intersection of Imperial and Normandie around 6:00 PM.
Officers from throughout the city and county responded to help push back the thousands of protesters who were pelting officers with rocks and bottles and settings vehicles on fire.
Multiple patrol vehicles were destroyed and fires continued to erupt as the night progressed.
As the riots continued individuals could be seen looting businesses and fleeing with merchandise.
Dozens, possibly hundreds, of arrests were made during unrest that continued into Sunday morning.
The National Guard is responding and a citywide curfew is in place while authorities attempt quell the unrest.
