Los Angeles: Massive Pallet Yard Fire Prompts Evacuations
05.05.2020 | 10:55 PM | LOS ANGELES – A massive pallet yard exploded into flames prompting evacuations of neighboring residences, Tuesday night.
Authorities responded to reports of a fire burning in the 1700 block of East 57th Street, near Alameda Street and Long Beach Boulevard, around 10:55 PM.
Crews arriving on scene located an approximately 300-foot-by-500-foot pallet yard engulfed in heavy flames with a number of nearby homes threatened.
Approximately 116 firefighters battled the massive blaze for over an hour and evacuated nearby homes.
At least one non-residential building was destroyed by the flames which was complicated by downed power lines.
No injuries to civilians or firefighters were immediately reported.
