Los Angeles: Man Arrested After Hitting Police Car During Pursuit

12.30.2018 | 2:00 AM | LOS ANGELES – A man was under arrest after striking a police car during an hour-long pursuit, early Sunday morning.

Officers attempted to stop a reckless driver they believed might be driving under the influence shortly before 2:00 AM.

The driver of the vehicle, a white pickup truck, failed to yield led officers on pursuit. At one point the suspect struck a Bell police officer’s patrol vehicle in an attempt to evade.

For over an hour the driver of the vehicle attempted to evade officers on local freeways and city streets. At points, the driver traveled wrong-way at high speeds.

Eventually the vehicle’s tire blew-out, forcing the suspect to return to city streets near his home.

Less than a block away from his home, the driver stopped and surrendered to police.

Police placed the man into custody and escorted him along with firefighter paramedics to an area hospital for medical clearance before booking.
