Los Angeles: High-Speed Pursuit Ends In Crash
04.28.2020 | 12:00 AM | LOS ANGELES – A high-speed pursuit ended with a crash and two arrests, early Tuesday morning.
Officers attempted to stop a speeding black Mercedes-Benz sedan with temporary license plates in the Newhall area shortly after midnight.
The driver of the vehicle failed to yield to officers, speeding off at speeds of over 140 MPH.
The pursuit lasted for about an hour and traveled south on the I-405 into the Long Beach area before turning around and heading into downtown Los Angeles.
Officers lost sight of the vehicle momentarily when it exited into downtown, obstructing a police helicopters visual of theĀ vehicle.
Moments later officers discovered the Mercedes-Benz had been crashed into a stop sign at the intersection of Pico and Hope.
Both occupants fled from the vehicle but were quickly apprehended.
One suspect tried to give officers a fake name however his driver’s license was located inside the abandoned vehicle.
A roll of cash and a white powdery substance was also recovered.
An investigation is ongoing.
