Los Angeles: Firefighters Battle Brush Fire Near Lake Balboa

07.30.2019 | 3:33 PM | LOS ANGELES – Firefighters worked to extinguish a brush fire that broke out near Lake Balboa in the Sepulveda Basin, Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities responded to reports of a brush fire burning in an open field near Lake Balboa in the 6300 block of Balboa Avenue around 3:33 PM.

Units arriving on scene found a brush fire approximately 4 acres in size being driven to the west by wind.

Using water dropping helicopters and ground crews, firefighters were able to contain the fire within several hours.

Propane tanks due to a large homeless population in the vicinity of the fire made fighting the fire dangerous but no injuries were reported.
