Los Angeles: FedEx Aircraft Performs Emergency Landing, Pilot Injured After Jumping From Cockpit (Caught On Camera)
08.19.2020 | 3:51 AM | LOS ANGELES – A FedEx cargo plane performed an emergency landing that sent sparks flying after a mechanical issue, early Wednesday morning.
The pilot of the Boeing 767-300 operated by FedEx reported a landing gear failure to Los Angeles International Airport’s air traffic control around 3:50 AM.
Crews responded to the airport to standby while the pilot of the aircraft performed an emergency landing on Runway 25R.
Video showed sparks flying as the plane screeched to a halt along the runway.
One of the two pilots aboard the plane were injured when they jumped from the cockpit.
They were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The plane operating as Fedex Flight 1026 had arrived from Newark Liberty International Airport where a FedEx hub is located.
FedEx mechanics along with officials from the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are responding to the scene.
