Los Angeles: Barricaded Man With Knife Taken Into Custody By SWAT Team

01.01.2019 | 6:00 PM | LOS ANGELES – A man with a knife who barricaded himself was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff, Tuesday evening.

Police responded to reports of a man with a knife in the 500 block of Burlington Street in the Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles around 6:00 PM.

Officers arriving on scene made contact with an adult male armed with a knife who became irate and quickly barricaded himself inside a bungalow.

For hours authorities attempted to negotiate with the suspect before sending in a SWAT team who fired tear gas to subdue the man.

Firefighter paramedics treated the suspect on scene and transported him to an area hospital for medical clearance before being booked.
