Los Alamitos: Pedestrian Killed After Vehicle Fleeing Police Jumps Curb, Crashes Into Pharmacy
03.12.2020 | 12:00 AM | LOS ALAMITOS – Two suspects from a vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian while fleeing from police were taken into custody, early Thursday morning.
A Cypress police sergeant attempted to stop a vehicle wanted in connection with a hit-and-run in their city shortly before midnight.
The driver of the vehicle failed to yield, leading police on a high-speed pursuit that entered the city of Los Alamitos at speeds of 90+ MPH.
The pursuit came to an end when the vehicle lost control and jumped a curb before striking a pedestrian and coming then coming to rest against a pharmacy located in the 4000 block of Katella Avenue.
Both occupants of the vehicle fled the scene on foot but were quickly apprehended by authorities.
Firefighter paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian that was struck deceased on scene.
Information regarding the initial hit-and-run crash in Cypress or the identity of the deceased pedestrian was immediately available.
The intersection of Katella Avenue at Bloomfield Street is closed until further notice while authorities investigate.
