Long Beach: Woman Wanted For Child Abuse Surrenders After Standoff
09.24.2019 | 10:00 PM | LONG BEACH – A woman who was wanted for assaulting her own child was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for a possible drug overdose after a standoff, Tuesday night.
Authorities responded to reports of an assault involving a child inside an apartment in the 1500 block of West 19th Street around 10:00 PM.
Units arriving on scene learned that a mother had assaulter he child before barricading herself inside an apartment.
A SWAT team responded and worked to negotiate the suspect’s surrender for several hours.
At around 1:30 AM the suspect surrendered to law enforcement without incident and was transported to an area hospital for a possible drug overdose.
The incident remains under investigation.
