LOCATION: Line Fire
AREA/CITY: Running Springs
DETAILS:
- The Massive Line fire has become another major threat to the east side of Running Springs, Arrowbear, Green Valley Lake, And Snow Valley.
- With the change beginning in the weather, there has been a major wind shift, and now strong southwest winds are fueling all of the fires’ hot spots and the rapid spread of the main head of the fire to the northeast.
- The massive smoke column is no longer towering into the atmosphere but is now leaning heavily toward the north.
- There is a huge firefighter presence in the area of Running Springs and Arrow Bear, as Green Valley Lake was officially issued an evacuation order this morning.
- This fire has become seemingly unstoppable and is ripping through the forest.
- The inferno heavily impacted Keller Peak Lookout, and it is unknown if the Killer Peak Lookout or its towers are even there.
- This morning, the most recent update on the fire acreage was mapping the massive fire at now 27,974 Acres.
- Firefighters are working to make a stand at Running Springs Village as they performed a successful burning operation overnight.
- However, the burned area was holding a lot of heat remaining from the operation, and heavy southwest uphill winds fueled a flare-up that increased fire activity and sent the fire toward town again.
- Dozens of resources are in the area for structure protection, and so far, they have been successful in saving the structures within that immediate threat area.
- Big Bear Lake is now under an evacuation warning as the fire pushes through the canyon leading directly to Big Bear.
