Lindia Fire Halts Rail Service Near Acton
ACTON (CNS) – A vegetation fire quickly scorched nearly 350 acres of terrain Wednesday in the Acton area, threatening structures and halting Metrolink service.
The Lidia Fire erupted early Wednesday afternoon in the area of Soledad Canyon Road and Bootleggers Canyon. It initially burned about 50 acres of vegetation but increased to about 80 acres as of 4:30 p.m. with 30% containment.
By early Wednesday evening, the fire was mapped at 348 acres, while containment grew to 40%, according to the U.S. Forest Service, which responded to the scene along with Los Angeles County fire crews.
Metrolink suspended service on its Antelope Valley line between Vista Canyon and Lancaster due to the fire.
The cause of the fire was unknown, but it broke out amid continuing Santa Ana wind conditions that were fueling major brush fires across the region.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
