Lengthy CHP Pursuit Ends Near Ocean In Port Hueneme
A driver led the California Highway Patrol on a lengthy pursuit through Los Angeles and Ventura counties early Tuesday morning before eventually surrendering near the ocean in Port Hueneme.
The pursuit, which occurred around 2:15 a.m. on October 6, 2026, was believed to have originated in the Baldwin Park area. A CHP air unit and ground units followed the single male driver across multiple freeways through Los Angeles County.
The driver eventually traveled west on the 10 Freeway from downtown Los Angeles toward Santa Monica before continuing along Pacific Coast Highway through Malibu and into Ventura County.
The pursuit ultimately ended in Port Hueneme when the driver pulled over on a dirt road near the ocean.
The man initially remained inside the vehicle and did not comply with officers’ commands while appearing verbally defiant. He was eventually taken into custody without further incident.
It was not immediately known what prompted the pursuit or what charges the driver may face.
The video also includes trailing and passing views of the pursuit captured by dash camera as the driver traveled through the region.
