Large Scale Search & Rescue For Stranded Transients | San Diego

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 1-16-23 8:56 am

LOCATION: 4747 Pacific Hwy

CITY: San Diego

DETAILS:

A male called 911 to report that there was several transients stranded on islands surrounded by flood waters from the San Diego River.

1st Responders started searching the river from Morena Blvd towards the river mouth.

Several of the transients were able to make it to safety on their own.

The SDFD Copter 2 found 2 males in a tree on an island, just west of the I-5.

Lifeguards entered the river and were able to rescue the two males.

The search & rescue last for approx 90 minutes.

The two males were not injured.
