Large Backyard Fire in Chula Vista

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 10/23/2025 12:52 p.m.
LOCATION: 489 Emerson Street.
AREA/CITY: Chula Vista, CA.
DETAILS:

1. Chula Vista Firefighters responded to multiple calls of a Residential Fire on the 400 block of Emerson Street.
2. Cellphone footage provided by a next door neighbor shows smoke and fire from the side yard of a residence that was fueled by items and other debris belonging to the homeowner.
3. Footage shows the homeowner trying to extinguish the fire with a garden hose as the flames continued to grow and extended towards the house next door.
4. Firefighters arrived and were able to quickly extinguish the fire within minutes of arrival.
5. The fire was isolated to the exterior of the residence only.
6. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by fire investigators.
7. No injuries were reported and the residents will not be displaced.
