Lake Fire Burns Hundreds of Acres
INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 6.28.25 | 4:35
LOCATION: Highway 138 @ Lake Silverwood
AREA/CITY: Lake Silverwood
DETAILS:
- The Lake Fire that started at around 345, has exploded in size at a rapid rate of spread.
- There are reports of 100 campers trapped in the park area, and they are working on an air lift out of the area.
- The fire, fueled by dry, dense brush and heavy winds, is making a rapid and intense push to the west and north west of the area.
- The fire has jumped Highway 138 in several locations.
- 138 has been shut down at Highway 173 as the fire continues its rapid western push.
- Firefighters are getting pushed out of multiple areas where they are trying to make a stand and are consistently retreating.
- Air resources report that the fire is moving faster than air resources are able to stay ahead of it and are reporting a structure threat within an hour.
- Around 6PM, about 20 fire engines and resources were almost completely trapped by a 60-foot wall of flames, forcing all resources in the massive turnout to flee immediately as we all raced to escape the fast-moving blaze.
- AS OF 7PM, Heavy winds and bone dry vegetation continues to promote extreme fire behavior.
- Fire continues to push to the north down into the desert with multiple spot fires being reported in front of the main fire.
- Fire reports indicate that all people trapped in the fire were successfully rescued.
- The left flank of the fire has moderated and is being mitigated at this time.
- Now, all attention is on the right flank of the fire, where extreme fire behavior is continuing to push north.
- The fire is being bottlenecked by Lake Silverwood as it acts as a massive natural barrier for the fire and could possibly give firefighters the upper hand, hopefully soon.
