Lake Elsinore: Procession For CHP Sgt. Steve Licon
04.06.2019 | 8:00 PM | LAKE ELSINORE – The body of veteran Sergeant Steve Licon of the California Highway Patrol was escorted from Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar to coroner’s office, Saturday night.
Numerous law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical service members joined escorted the body of Sergeant Steve Licon from the Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar to the county coroner’s office in Perris.
Sergeant Licon was airlifted to the Inland Valley Medical Center following a crash on the southbound I-15 Freeway just north of Nichols Road in Lake Elsinore around 4:26 PM.
According to officials the 27-year veteran of the department was struck by a intoxicated driver while he conducting a traffic stop on the right shoulder of the freeway.
The suspected DUI driver, identified as Michael Callahan of Winchester, was placed into custody on suspicion of DUI pending charges which may include murder.
Sergeant Licon is survived by his wife, daughter, and step-daughter.
