LAFD Rescues Driver and Caged Dog After Freeway Rollover

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on December 31st, 2025, firefighters with the Los Angeles Fire Department and officers with the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a vehicle that had rolled off the westbound 10 Freeway transition road to the southbound 110 Freeway in Downtown Los Angeles.

Upon arrival, crews located a man and his caged dog trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters cut and smashed windows to safely free both the driver and the dog from the wreckage.

Video from the scene showed firefighters and CHP officers comforting the dog, providing water and reassurance following the rescue. The driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment, while the dog was placed into a CHP unit for care and safekeeping.

The crash remained under investigation.
