La Mirada: Slick Roads Cause Crash Into Fire Hydrant

11.19.2019 | 7:23 PM | LA MIRADA – Slick roads caused a pickup truck to lose control and collide with a fire hydrant, Tuesday evening.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a fire hydrant near the intersection of Valley View Avenue and Imperial Highway around 7:23 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a white pickup truck that struck a fire hydrant causing a geyser of water to shoot nearly 15 feet into the air.

Firefighters worked for approximately 15 minutes to shut off the flow of water to the sheared hydrant.

The female driver and her child were uninjured and refused medical treatment.

Authorities attributed the cause of the crash to slick roads after a spurt of rain hit the area.
