La Mirada: Mother Arrested After Leaving Two Toddlers In Scorching Car
09.01.2019 | 2:01 PM | LA MIRADA – Two toddlers were being treated at a hospital for dehydration and their mother was under arrest after leaving the couple inside a scorching car, Sunday afternoon.
Deputies responded to reports of two children locked inside a vehicle in a parking lot in the 13900 block of Imperial Highway around 2:01 PM.
Units arriving on scene located a vehicle parked with two children, aged 2 and 6, who were in distress after sitting in the vehicle for an extended period of time.
Windows were slightly lowered allowing officers to unlock the vehicle and remove the children who were transported to an area hospital to be treated for dehydration after extended heat exposure.
Witnesses reported the mother had left the vehicle unattended for 1-2 hours in heat that the National Weather Service estimated to peak at 97 degrees.
After an investigation the mother was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment.
