Koreatown: Suspected Car Thief Shoots At Officers During Pursuit

02.17.2020 | 12:45 AM | LOS ANGELES – A suspected car thief who shot at officers while fleeing was taken into custody, early Monday morning.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle reported stolen on the I-101 Freeway near Silver Lake Boulevard around 8:26 PM.

The driver of the vehicle failed to yield to officers, opening fire with a handgun as he fled.

The suspect ditched the vehicle near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Berendo Street in the Koreatown area prompting police to create a massive perimeter while they searched.

With the assistance of police K-9s and a SWAT team the suspect was taken into custody at around 12:45 AM.

No injuries were reported and the incident remains under investigation.
