Koreatown: Passenger’s Leg Severed, Driver Flees After Pursuit Crash
01.13.2020 | 2:00 AM | LOS ANGELES – A man riding as a passenger in a reportedly stolen vehicle that led officers on a pursuit before crashing had his leg severed and was critically injured while his counterpart remained on the lam, early Monday morning.
Officers attempted to stop a reportedly stolen vehicle occupied by two individuals in the Koreatown area around 2:00 AM.
The driver of the vehicle fled from officers leading them on a short pursuit through the streets of Koreatown and crashing into a row of parked vehicles near the intersection of South Berendo and 8th streets.
Both the driver and passenger fled from the crashed vehicle but the passenger’s leg was severed leaving him unable to run.
The driver was able to successfully flee on foot and was not immediately located despite the efforts of police K-9s.
Firefighter paramedics treated the passenger on scene and transported him along with his severed leg to an area hospital for treatment.
