Knife-Wielding Man Threatens Workers Inside Donut Shop

At approximately 4:20am on March 6th, 2026, Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to reports of a man armed with a knife inside a Winchell’s Donuts near 8th Avenue and Florence Avenue in South Los Angeles.

According to authorities, the suspect entered the occupied store and threatened to stab employees and a customer. LAPD officers arrived and evacuated workers from the front of the store as well as bakers who were inside the back area of the business.

The suspect initially refused to drop the knife but eventually set the weapon down. Officers then entered the store and used less-lethal ammunition before taking the suspect into custody.

No employees or customers were injured during the incident, though several individuals were reported to be shaken by the encounter.
