K-9 Ends Hour-Long Police Standoff In San Bernardino

A lengthy police standoff ended with the successful arrest of a suspect early Thursday morning in San Bernardino.

At approximately 12:00 a.m. on July 9, 2026, San Bernardino Police officers surrounded a suspect inside a sedan in the CVS parking lot at 5200 University Parkway.

During the more than hour-long standoff, officers utilized multiple specialized resources, including a police drone, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit, and a police K-9.

After repeated efforts to resolve the situation peacefully, officers deployed the K-9, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

San Bernardino County Fire personnel responded to evaluate the suspect at the scene, but the individual was not transported to a hospital.

The on-scene police sergeant declined to comment on the circumstances that led to the standoff, and no additional information was released.

The investigation remains ongoing.
