Juvenile Killed After Fleeing Vehicle Crashes In Houston

One juvenile was killed and three others were hospitalized after a vehicle fleeing Harris County sheriff’s deputies crashed and overturned late Sunday night in Houston.

Around 11 p.m., deputies received reports of a parking lot takeover near FM 1960 and Veterans Memorial Drive, where vehicles were reportedly performing donuts and speeding through the lot while passengers sat on the doors.

A deputy arrived around 11:05 p.m. and observed vehicles performing donuts. According to preliminary information, deputies attempted to stop one vehicle, but the driver fled eastbound on FM 1960 before turning south onto Ella Boulevard.

Authorities said the fleeing vehicle’s lights were turned off during the pursuit. The vehicle later struck a curb or median while traveling at a high rate of speed and overturned in the 16500 block of Ella Boulevard.

Five juveniles were reportedly inside the vehicle. One was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS, while three others were transported to hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately available.

A fifth juvenile reportedly fled from the crash on foot, prompting a search involving a helicopter and K-9 units.

Investigators were working to determine which of the juveniles was driving the vehicle. Authorities also reported finding firearms inside the crashed vehicle.

The investigation remains ongoing.
