ISP Trooper Killed After Being Struck During Pursuit

LOCATION: Ronald Reagan Parkway & Ameriplex
CITY: Plainfield, Indiana
DETAILS:

1. Indiana State Police troopers were in pursuit of a vehicle
2. Police had found a stolen vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle, which led to a vehicle pursuit
3. ISP Trooper Aaron Smith was laying out stop sticks on Ronald Reagan Parkway when the vehicle veered straight at him and struck him
4. Trooper Smith was thrown through the air and the vehicle crashed out into a ditch
5. All the occupants of the suspect vehicle were taken into custody and transported to the hospital
6. Trooper Smith was transported to Eskenazi hospital, where he was pronounced deceased
