Irvine: High-Speed Pursuit Ends When Suspect Runs Out Of Gas
01.01.2020 | 3:30 AM | IRVINE – A suspect who led officers on a high-speed pursuit for hours in a reportedly stolen vehicle was taken into custody after running out of gas and and attempting to flee on foot, early Wednesday morning.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Valley Division attempted to stop a black KIA SUV that had been reported stolen around 3:30 AM.
The driver of the vehicle fled from officers, initiating a high-speed pursuit that lasted nearly two hours and reached speeds of over 120 MPH.
Authorities pursued the suspect into Orange County before the vehicle ran out of gas near the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Fitch in Irvine around 5:30 AM.
The suspect fled from the vehicle on foot into a flood control channel but was quickly apprehended without incident.
