Injured Hiker Rescued by Helicopter | San Diego
02.01.2022 | 9:30 AM | SAN DIEGO – A witness saw the male hiker fall approx 25 ft off of a cliff trail at an area known as “The Waterfall”.
The victim was seriously hurt and could not move.
The witness ran back up the canyon to the “Gilder Port and called 911.
The SDPD ABLE helicopter went to the scene and was instrumental in guiding firefighters and lifeguards down to where the victim lay.
The victim was in a pool of water and suffered major back injuries.
Lifeguards and Firefighters made their way down the dangerous trial and had to drop down the 25ft cliff to reach the victim and stabilize him.
The SDFD’s Copter 2 lower a medic to the victim and then hoisted him up to the helicopter and flew him to Scripps La Jolla Hospital with the major injuries.
