Inglewood: COVID-19 Positive Car Thief Cited & Released By Police
03.23.2020 | 12:30 PM | INGLEWOOD – A COVID-19 positive car thief was cited and released after being stopped by police and the stolen vehicle was driven off by its owner against the advice of authorities, Monday afternoon.
Authorities responded to reports of a vehicle theft that had just occurred in the area of Imperial Highway and Crenshaw Boulevard around 12:30 PM.
Units responding to the area spotted a vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle fleeing at a high rate of speed.
Officers stopped the vehicle which they later determined was stolen and detained the driver who was screaming that she had the coronavirus.
Firefighter paramedics responded to the scene and confirmed the woman had been recently released from a hospital after testing positive for COVID-19.
Due to the circumstances officers wrote the woman a citation with a court date and released her on scene.
The owner of the vehicle responded to the scene and took possession of his vehicle and drove away against the advice of authorities.
