Imperial Beach: Suspected Smuggling Boat Capsizes Onto Local Beach

08.05.2019 | 8:07 PM | IMPERIAL BEACH – A boat involved with a suspected smuggling operation capsized on a local beach, Monday night.

Authorities responded to reports of a capsized vessel on the beach near the intersection of Seacoast Drive and Daisy Avenue around 8:07 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a small boat capsized on the beach with a hispanic male adult injured.

Initial reports indicate that three others aboard the vessel fled from the scene on foot prior to the arrival of authorities.

Firefighter paramedics treated the injured male on scene before transporting him to an area hospital with moderate injuries.

The U.S. Border Patrol was notified of the incident.

It was not immediately clear whether the vessel was smuggling humans or narcotics.
