Imperial Beach: Second Alarm Fire Displaces 40 Residents
11.21.2018 | 3:56 AM | IMPERIAL BEACH – Forty residents, including 10 children, were displaced after a second alarm blaze scorches an apartment complex, Wednesday morning.
Firefighters responded to reports of a fire at an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Iris Avenue shortly before 4:00 AM.
Crews arriving on scene found heavy smoke and fire showing from several units inside the apartment complex and initiated efforts to attack the blaze.
Firefighters doused the blaze for more than an hour before the flames were considered under control.
At least one sheriff deputy was injured with a minor burn to his arm during the incident and treated on scene by paramedics.
A total of forty residents, including 10 children, were displaced as a result of the early morning fire. The Red Cross was requested to assist the residents with housing.
Investigators were on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
