Huntington Beach: Boat Explosion Injures Multiple People
11.01.2020 | 12:48 PM | HUNTINGTON BEACH – Authorities received 911 calls regarding a boat that had exploded into flames in the Huntington Beach Harbor.
It is reported that 6 occupants of the boat reportedly jumped off the boat and into the water.
Three victims were picked up out of the water by rescuers, and they were found suffering from multiple burn injuries.
The owner of the boat also jumped out of the boat and made it back to shore, however was missing for a short period of time before he showed up at the Yacht club uninjured.
Fire rescuers determined the time in which the owner was missing to be suspicious and have turned him over to sheriff’s investigators for further questioning..
The boat was a 32 foot Chaparral powerboat named “The Neptune” that blew up, however the fire reportedly self-extinguished soon after. Sheriffs deputies towed the boat to the substation.
